John Ford, Editor of Mediate.com,
Joins Liaise Divorce Solutions
–San Francisco, CA, November 22, 2010—Liaise Divorce Solutions is pleased to announce that attorney John Ford has joined the firm as a senior mediator and Vice President of Training and Staff Development according to Liaise founder David D. Stein.
John has been active in the practice and teaching of mediation since his arrival in California from Namibia in 1996. Mr. Ford studied law at the University of Cape Town before moving to Namibia where he practiced in the oldest and largest law firm, Lorentz and Bone, from 1988 to 1995. Initially he focused on the representation of survivors of human rights abuses. After Namibian Independence in 1991 he maintained a practice that focused on employment and family law. Today John mediates divorces with Liaise Divorce Solutions in downtown San Francisco. He teaches negotiation at UC Hasting School of Law and mediation to PSYD and MFT therapy students at JFK University. Mr. Ford is a past president of the Association For Dispute Resolution of Northern California. Ford is also the editor of www.mediate.com.
Mr. Ford describes the process by which he came to favor mediation in family law, “The old way of aggressive, adversarial negotiation only served my law firm’s financial interests, and typically was debilitating and very costly for clients. I began inviting the ‘other’ spouse to meet with me, and together the husband, wife and I would figure out a solution that was far better than adversarial negotiation, and certainly cheaper. I was excited to learn that David shares my point of view and thrilled to be able to join the practice.”
Stein sees John Ford as key to the firm’s development, “As Liaise grows, an essential element is creating a team of mediators who share our point of view, our approach and our method. John is not only a highly skilled and experienced mediator, he is a charismatic and effective teacher who communicates the core values of conflict resolution as well as the process. We are fortunate that he is joining our team.”
